Violeta Radenovich, MD, MPH, ABOIM, a highly respected pediatric ophthalmologist, is dedicated to enhancing the vision and overall quality of life of children in the El Paso community. Since 1996, she has been providing comprehensive eye care and custom treatments at The Children’s Eye Center of El Paso, where her expertise in various pediatric eye conditions has made a significant impact on the lives of many families.
Dr. Radenovich’s specialized interests include the treatment of Strabismus (crossed eyes), pediatric cataracts, and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), a serious condition affecting premature infants. Her mission is clear: to ensure that every child can see as well as possible, thereby improving their overall quality of life through the highest standard of eye care.
Born in Tingo Maria, Peru, Dr. Radenovich earned her Medical Degree from the University Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima in 1988. After practicing in medically underserved areas in Peru, she relocated to the United States, where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston in 1991. She then became the first foreign medical graduate to join the General Ophthalmology Residency Program at the University of Texas at Houston, completing her training in 1995, followed by a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology under renowned expert Dr. Malcolm L. Mazow.
As the only female US residency and fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologist in El Paso, Dr. Radenovich is board certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and in integrative medicine by the American Board of Physician Specialties. Furthermore, she is an active member of several esteemed medical organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Pediatric Ophthalmology Association, and the El Paso County Medical Society.
In addition to her commitment to her practice, Dr. Radenovich serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Her contributions to the field extend beyond the clinic, having authored numerous lectures and publications. Notably, her work on ROP has been featured at international conferences, showcasing her dedication to advancing pediatric ophthalmology.
