She began her studies at Hopkinsville Community College, earning her Associate of Science in Nursing in May 2007. She then pursued her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Chamberlain College of Nursing, graduating in August 2022. Furthering her education, Jana achieved her Master of Science in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain College of Nursing in October 2024.
Her career in nursing began in December 2007 at Western State Nursing Facility, where she worked as a Charge Nurse. During her tenure, Jana conducted daily shift briefs, mentored junior nurses, and fostered open communication among staff, physicians, and management. She also facilitated ongoing education and ensured patient safety through strict medication administration protocols. Her role evolved into an MDS Coordinator in June 2009, where Jana was responsible for scheduling assessments, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing staff education on MDS best practices. She further contributed to improving the facility’s quality measures and participated in evidence-based practice projects.
In August 2014, Jana transitioned to the role of Clinical Coordinator/Administrative Nurse. Here, she played a key role in enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration and implementing policies, while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. She led the transition to electronic health records and coordinated continuing education opportunities for staff, ensuring the clinic maintained high standards during audits.
In September 2015, Jana was promoted to Nurse Staff Director/Administrative Nurse. In this position, she developed a new employee orientation program that improved retention rates and provided ongoing professional development for nursing staff. Her leadership also included creating targeted training sessions and facilitating interdisciplinary training to promote cohesive patient care. As of February 2017, Jana became the Facility Charge Nurse, where she continues to oversee nursing care coordination, staff training, and compliance with safety protocols.
In addition to her professional responsibilities, Jana is an active member of the American Nurses Association and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
