After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry in 2000, he worked for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals before pursuing medical education.
While attending medical school at NSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Gedrick completed a one-year fellowship in osteopathic manipulation. He then pursued an emergency medicine residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Detroit, where he worked with the Detroit Red Wings’ physicians. After residency, he completed a primary care sports medicine fellowship at NSU-COM and became a team physician for the NSU Sharks and medical director of the athletic training program.
Dr. Gedrick joined the Medical College of Georgia in 2016 as an associate professor in emergency and sports medicine. He served as a team physician for the Augusta GreenxJackets, Augusta University Jaguars, and local high schools while also acting as medical director for the Augusta Ironman and Paceline. Additionally, he led the Ortho On-Demand clinic and was a faculty member for the Sports Medicine Fellowship in the Family Medicine Department, further solidifying his expertise in patient care.
With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Gedrick holds board certifications in emergency medicine, sports medicine, and osteopathic manipulation. He is an active member of several prominent medical organizations, including the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine, the American College of Emergency Physicians, and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
Recognizing the importance of giving back, Dr. Gedrick founded the Flex Sports Foundation in 2023 to support underserved athletes in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). This initiative aims to provide resources and care for young athletes who may otherwise lack access to necessary medical attention, thereby nurturing the next generation of sports talent.
Dr. Gedrick’s commitment to innovative healthcare is matched by his desire to create a positive impact on the community.
