Dr. Burrell’s medical journey commenced with his graduation from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine in 1966. He completed his internship at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, followed by a residency in internal medicine at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. He further specialized with a residency in diagnostic radiology at Yale New Haven Hospital from 1970 to 1973. In 1974, he achieved board certification in diagnostic radiology from the American Board of Radiology, solidifying his expertise in the field.
In his new role, Dr. Burrell will oversee various programs at Yale New Haven Hospital, including Abdominal Imaging, the Body Imaging Division, the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program, and the Pancreatic Diseases Program. His leadership is expected to enhance the hospital’s capabilities in gastrointestinal radiology, fostering advancements in patient care and diagnostic accuracy.
Beyond his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Burrell serves as a Professor in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale School of Medicine.
