She then attended the University of Connecticut School of Medicine where she graduated with her Medical Degree in 1991. Giving her over two decades of experience in her field.

Experience: After obtaining her Medical Degree Dr. Maindiratta completed her internship and internal medicine residency with the New York University School of Medicine. She then completed a neurology residency with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center, where she was named chief resident. Wanting to further her training she completed her Neuromuscular Disorders and EMG fellowship with the Montefiore Medical Center. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. To stay up to date in her field she remains a professional member of the American Medical Association, American Neurology Association, American Pain Association, and the American Academy of Hospice  & Palliative Medicine.

Current Position: Dr. Maindiratta has practiced within her private practice for more than two decades. Dr. Maindiratta says, “Being a physician is a privilege. It gives me the chance to work with people and their families who are sick and in pain, to listen and learn from each one of them, and apply what I have learned academically, to diagnose and hopefully provide relief and a cure.”

Neurology: Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of conditions and disease involving the central and peripheral nervous systems (and their subdivisions, the autonomic and somatic nervous systems), including their coverings, blood vessels, and all effector tissue, such as muscle. Neurological practice relies heavily on the field of neuroscience, which is the scientific study of the nervous system. Neurologists may also be involved in clinical research, clinical trials, and basic or translational research.

Personal: Dr. Maindiratta attributes her professional success to her encouraging mentors and colleagues together with supportive family and friends made this path easier. Her philanthropic initiatives include child abuse education, awareness and recognition; supporting education for underprivileged children in India; contributions to medical care for the underprivileged and Third World Countries; contributions for cancer, lupus, and multiple sclerosis research. When she is not working she enjoys reading, writing poetry, traveling, and cooking.
