Balazs Galdi obtained his medical degree in 2008 at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Yeshiva University in New York. During his time there, he received induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and was named a Golding Distinguished Scholar. Dr. Galdi further completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. Following his residency, he conducted the world-renowned Charles Neer Fellowship in Shoulder, Elbow, and Sports Medicine at Columbia University, during which time he assisted the New York Yankees, the Rockland Boulders minor league baseball team, Columbia University athletics and various local high school teams.
Dr. Galdi is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He holds professional memberships with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is an exceptionally experienced orthopedic surgeon who has been practicing for more than 2 years and is currently serving patients at the North Jersey Orthopaedic Institute, a private practice in Newark, New Jersey. Furthermore, Dr. Galdi is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery in the Department of Orthopedics at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School and is affiliated with Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, University Hospital Newark, and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
As an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Galdi is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders of the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles. He is a firm believer in exploring all non-surgical modalities, such as anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy and cortisone injections, prior to resorting to surgery. However, if surgery is necessary, he performs both minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery or traditional open surgery – depending on the patient’s individual condition. Dr. Galdi treats a wide array of conditions, including shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, shoulder and elbow injuries, shoulder and elbow arthritis, and knee ligament injuries. He is continuously focused on providing state-of-the-art care to his patients and has published papers on shoulder arthritis, shoulder replacement surgery, and knee ligament biomechanics.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Dr. Galdi speaks Hungarian, Spanish and Italian in addition to English. He attributes his success to hard work, dedication, perseverance, and a desire to help others. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, soccer, golf, and skiing.
