Donna F. Gill, DNP-FNP-C, a Forensic Nurse Practitioner with Comprehensive Forensic Consultants

Get to know Forensic Nurse Practitioner, Donna F. Gill, who serves patients in the State of Florida.

Donna is a forensic nurse practitioner who is the Owner of Comprehensive Forensic Consultants, located in the State of Florida. She treats those with intentional injury (child abuse, elder abuse, domestic abuse, and sexual assault) and works very closely with attorneys, medical examiners, and coroners. 

In the past, while her husband was in the military, Donna went to go work in a hospital. It was the Director of Nursing at that hospital who pushed her into pursuing a career in the field of nursing. Having always had compassion for victims of violence, she now attributes her successful career to her passion, strive, motivation, and belief that children are the future. 

In regards to her educational background, she obtained her nursing degree (FNP) from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1976. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Florida International University in Miami, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Wanting to further her education, she went on to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. 

In order to stay up to date in her field, Donna remains a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and the Academy of Forensic Nursing.

Among her many achievements, she has spoken all over the country, both on a local and national level, about recognizing the signs of child and domestic abuse. She has also written books and published 3 articles. 

Forensic nursing is a unique specialty that blends the worlds of nursing, science, and the legal system. It is defined as the application of the nursing process to public or legal proceedings, and the application of forensic health care in the scientific investigation of trauma and/or death related to abuse, violence, criminal activity, liability, and accidents. A forensic nurse is someone who works with crime victims to gather medical evidence and provide expert testimony that can be used in court.
