Get to know Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Certified Family Nurse Practitioner Amanda Platt, who serves patients in the States of Illinois and Missouri.

With a positive attitude and respect for people, Amanda is an advanced practice registered nurse and a certified family nurse practitioner who makes sure to listen to her patients and hear their stories. Her goal is to develop a personal connection with each and every patient.

Currently, she is affiliated with Blessing Physician Services in the States of Illinois and Missouri. Established in 2005 as part of the Blessing Health System, Blessing Physician Services is a multispecialty practice group consisting of over 100 providers, clinical and clerical staff who serve residents of western Illinois, northeastern Missouri, and southeastern Iowa. It operates medical offices in Quincy, as well as rural clinics in surrounding areas to better suit patients’ healthcare needs.

It wasn’t until she was in high school that Amanda realized that she wanted to become a nurse practitioner. In 2018, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Chamberlain University, College of Nursing in Downers Grove, Illinois. She chose family medicine because she enjoys treating all stages of life. She also enjoys learning, which is why she seeks every opportunity to gain knowledge to improve the care she provides to her patients to help get them on the road to recovery. “Providing patients with the knowledge to be successful is key!” stated Amanda.

In order to stay up to date in her field, she remains a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

An advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) is a nurse who has obtained at least a master’s degree in nursing. APRNs may work across various healthcare settings, including hospitals, ambulatory clinics or long-term care facilities. They provide medical support and preventative care to patients, along with additional responsibilities of coordinating patient care and using specialized knowledge to manage complex patient conditions.

Family nurse practitioners (FNPs) are advanced practice nurses who focus on patients of all ages- from infancy through adulthood. It is one of the most commonly selected certifications that nurse practitioners choose. When attending a master’s or doctoral program, students can choose which population foci they wish to concentrate on. Certification is usually required with licensing as a nurse practitioner.
