Kimberly graduated with her Associates of Science in Nursing as a Registered Nurse from Miles Community College in 1990, giving her nearly three decades of experience in her field. Furthering her education she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2010 and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2012. She is currently attended the Western Governors University and is expected to graduate with her Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management in 2020. Additionally she holds certification as an Emergency Nurse.
To stay up to date in her field, Kimberly has been inducted as a member of the Sigma Theta Tau and the Golden Key International Honour Society. She currently practices with SCL Health in the ER, and has previously been with St. Vincent Healthcare, and Saint Joseph Hospital, where she specialized in High Risk Labor and Delivery, PICU, ICU, and ER care. She has also previously taught at Montana State University for 3 years.
The main role of a registered nurse is to assist physicians in providing treatment to patients suffering from various medical conditions. While their primary responsibilities will involve caring for patients, their specific job duties will vary depending on your employer and specialization. While a majority of registered nurses work at hospitals they are not limited to that setting, they can also work in in clinics, schools, assisted living facilities, homes, schools and more. They must also stay up-to-date with new tools and technology to help provide the best care to patients and families, and the best support to doctors and other healthcare professionals. Registered nurses must possess excellent communication, emotional intelligence, teamwork, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
