He has publications dealing with renal stenting and distal embolization protection; plaque extension below the knee for limb salvage in patients with end-stage renal disease and diabetes.
In addition to his research experience in kidney disease treatment, with both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, the doctor is board-certified in both internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Back in 1991, Dr. Szewc earned his medical degree from the Medical University of Lublin in Poland. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at UMASS Memorial Health Care in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he served as chief resident. He then went on to complete his fellowship in nephrology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. His training includes interventional nephrology procedures such as fistulagrams with percutaneous transluminal interventions.

Outside of the office, Dr. Szewc volunteers his time to local orphanages. He also enjoys traveling, skiing, playing tennis and other outdoor sports, as well as spending time with his family.
