Being a board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Alleyne treats acute pain problems and provides pain relief during and after surgery. She is affiliated with several hospitals and medical centers, including Coliseum Medical Center and Coliseum Northside Hospital in Macon, Georgia & Newberry County Memorial Hospital and Providence Hospitals in Columbia, South Carolina.
Prior to her current endeavours, she served as an Assistant Professor at the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Regents University from August of 2003 until September of 2009.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Alleyne obtained her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 1993. She then went on to complete her internship, residency in anesthesiology, and fellowship in obstetrical anesthesia with Emory University.
Licensed to practice medicine in Georgia and South Carolina, the doctor is board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), whose mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care.
Active on a national, regional, and local level, Dr. Alleyne is a member of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology where she serves on the Patient Safety Committee. She serves on the Board of the Evelyn Henley Anesthesia Society, has served as President of the National Medical Association-Anesthesiology Section, as well as remains a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Georgia Society of Anesthesiologists, and the National Medical Association.
Dedicated to providing compassionate care and service to the community, she is a long-standing member of her church and volunteers in multiple local service organizations. To date, she has over three decades of experience in academic and private practice of anesthesiology, earning awards for outstanding patient care and teaching.
Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, anesthesiologists also measure the patient’s respiration.
On a more personal note, Dr. Alleyne is married to Cargill H. Alleyne, Jr., MD, a neurosurgeon. They have two children, Nathan and Nicole.
