With an excellent reputation as a thriving ophthalmologist, Dr. Biscoe Jr.  specializes in eye and vision care. At his St. Thomas, Christiansted and Tortola offices, Dr. Biscoe Jr. has been serving those from the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and other areas of the Caribbean since 1994. He considers it an honor and a privilege to take care of his patients using the very latest advances in vision technology, including the latest in laser eye surgery. 

Providing clearer vision, the doctor’s proficiency and expertise enable him to offer many advanced procedures and techniques to treat a variety of conditions such as presbyopia, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. After earning his undergraduate and medical degrees at Morehouse College and Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Dr. Biscoe Jr. completed a residency in ophthalmology in New York in association with the Cornell University Medical College. He then went on to complete a fellowship in ophthalmic pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. He also completed a retina research preceptorship at The Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. In this capacity, he co-published a paper on proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR), the primary reason for the failure of retinal detachment surgery. 

Constantly striving to incorporate the latest advancements in the field into his practice, Dr. Biscoe Jr.’s professional society memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International College of Surgeons, the Ophthalmologic Society of the West Indies, and the International Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS). 

Continuing to hone his skills with numerous continuing education programs, Dr. Biscoe Jr. passed the Written American Board of Ophthalmology examination.  ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America. 

Throughout his career as an ophthalmologist, Dr. Biscoe Jr. has introduced many techniques and procedures to the region. He was the first to perform the following procedures in the Virgin Islands: PRK and laser vision correction, small incision cataract surgery, retinal detachment repair, vitrectomy, advanced glaucoma surgery, laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma, clear cornea foldable intraocular lens placement, iStent inject microstent for glaucoma treatment and corneal transplant.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.

Selected as one of the Best Doctors in America, Dr. Biscoe Jr. takes an active role in his community and was the recipient of the 2008 Lions Club Community Service Award.  He was honored to be the Virgin Islands Daily News recipient of the Best Ophthalmologist in the Virgin Islands 2018-2019.  Dr. Biscoe Jr. was recognized by his alma mater, Morehouse School of Medicine with the Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2018 in recognition for his sight saving surgeries throughout the Caribbean Region.  

In his free time, he enjoys boating, scuba diving, skiing, golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family.
