Dr. McFerren, a board-certified dermatologist, is the Medical Director at The Derm Group in Orange, Connecticut. His special clinical interests include medical and procedural dermatology; nail disease and surgery; the use of cosmetic neuromodulators (i.e, botox) and dermal fillers; unique disease presentations in ethnic skin; the treatment of psoriasis using immunomodulatory therapies; and the use of alternative and complementary/botanical therapies.

Relating to his education, Dr. McFerren is a graduate of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and holds a Doctorate degree from the Cornell University Department of Plant Biology. He completed his residency in dermatology at the Yale University School of Medicine, and his training in internal medicine at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Subsequent to his training, he attained board certification in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. McFerren has held faculty appointments at the Cornell Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine, Swarthmore College, and Downstate Medical Center. He is currently on the teaching staff at Danbury Hospital.
Due to his unique expertise in both botany and dermatology he is a frequent national and international lecturer on the beneficial and injurious effects of plants and plant products on the skin. He has previously received the Elle Magazine Genius Award for his contributions to cosmetic dermatology, and has written numerous scientific articles and book chapters.
In his current capacity, Dr. McFerren is an active member of the greater New Haven community as a coach for the Northeast Flag Football League. He is also a member of LEAP for Kids Executive Board.
