After working for 6 years as a registered nurse in various hospital units (ICU, IMC, cardiac step-down, medical-surgical, and psychiatric), she decided to further her education. She pursued her Master of Science in Nursing degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Simmons University because she wanted more autonomy in the care of patients. She graduated in May of 2019, and is currently working on her Doctorate degree in Psychiatric Mental Health at Liberty University.
Board-Certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Board, she holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS – not intended for postnominal use), and Telemetry. She is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Attributing her success to her love for helping others, Doris is motivated by her son at the start of each day. She strives to make a difference in the lives of her patients by treating them like she would her own family.
A Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) is an advanced practice registered nurse who holds certification and works autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, to deliver family-focused care. Given the rather broad nature of the “family” patient population focus, FNPs offer a wide range of healthcare services that revolve around the family unit; from health promotion and disease prevention to direct care and counseling across the lifespan.
