Eva I. Beaulieu, MD, a Hospitalist with Piedmont Healthcare
Get to know Hospitalist Dr. Eva I. Beaulieu, who serves patients throughout the State of Georgia.
Dr. Beaulieu is a well-versed internal medicine hospitalist employed with Piedmont Healthcare. She holds hospital privileges at: Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Piedmont Henry Hospital, and Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
“What I am most proud of is being able to be in a position to inspire others. And what motivates me is the need for visibility, especially in this current climate. Visibility brings with it a degree of scrutiny. It brings a sense of being a role model whether I like it or not. I want to show other women that if I push for change they can too” expressed the doctor.
Born and raised in Haiti, Dr. Beaulieu knew at an early age she wanted to become a doctor and that her purpose was to positively impact the lives of many. Both of her parents were doctors and instilled in her a great desire to learn and implement great health care. With English as her third language, she migrated to the United States when she was a teenager. Equipped with a thirst and undeterred passion, she pursued medicine.
In 2008, she graduated with her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. Three years later, in 2011, she completed her residency in internal medicine at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, finishing top of her residency class.
That same year, she attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
When asked what is her favorite thing about her job, Dr. Beaulieu answered: “The impact that I actually have on others is the best feeling in the world. As a physician, you actually get to help someone feel better, you help diagnose and treat diseases and ultimately can change someone’s life just by educating them on making better decisions.”
Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. Physicians whose primary professional focus is caring for hospitalized patients only while they are in the hospital are called hospitalists.
A business entrepreneur, Dr. Beaulieu also wrote a book “Paging Doctor You: A Step-by-Step Guide to Becoming a Doctor” as a way to reach back and extend her hand to pull more aspiring doctors forward. She’s making it her mission and her duty to clear a path for those coming up behind her. Her goal is to share her journey, help set expectations and provide guidance and direction to anyone who’s thinking of becoming a doctor from high school students to college students and beyond.
Alongside being an experienced medical doctor, she is a wife, a mother of three, and businesswoman (the co-owner of Dramatically Real lipsticks and CEO of Dr.EvaB coaching services). She speaks multiple languages, including English, Creole – Haitian, French, and Spanish.
