Get to know Osteopathic Pediatric Neuro- Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Julieanne P. Sees, who serves patients throughout New Jersey.

An active member of the osteopathic medical profession, Dr. Sees is a board-certified osteopathic pediatric neuro-orthopedic surgeon.

As such, she specializes in pediatric orthopedics, neuromuscular spine surgery, gait and motion analysis and is experienced in sub-specialty with academic research in neuro-orthopedics and developmental disorders, motion analysis and gait abnormalities, physician professional development, clinician well-being, and emerging leadership in health and medicine.

Serving as the first Vice President of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), Dr. Sees is on the AOA’s Bureau of Osteopathic Education and the American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) Board of Directors. 

The AOA represents more than 151,000 osteopathic physicians and medical students across the U.S. It is committed to providing tools, resources and support to advance professional and personal goals, advocating on one’s behalf to advance regulatory improvements and promote access to care, raising awareness of the unique approach DOs bring to medicine each and every day, and promoting health policy advancements that improve affordability and access.

Academically, Dr. Sees received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, Illinois. During medical school, she received several honors, including the Illinois Medical Society Student of the Year Award and the National Medical Council of Student Government Presidents Student DO of the Year. She completed a combined internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the former University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine, receiving AOF’s Outstanding Resident of the Year Award.

Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery through the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). The AOBOS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

Holding dual fellowship training in a pediatric orthopedic surgery and neuro-orthopedic surgery at Nemours Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, Dr. Sees is also the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NAM) Fellow in Osteopathic Medicine. The NAM Fellowship honors one talented, early-career health science scholar, thus Dr. Sees in this position continues her academic affiliations and participates actively in the work of the National Academies as a future leader in her field. Furthermore, she is President of the Delaware State Osteopathic Medical Society and President of the Board of Governors of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Alumni Association (CCOMAA).

Neuro orthopedics is an innovative clinical specialization that combines neurology and orthopedics. It is involved with musculoskeletal disorders that cause lesions to both the central and peripheral nervous system. As a neuro orthopaedic specialist using her holistic approach, Dr. Sees focuses in treating patients afflicted with a variety of musculoskeletal dysfunctions over a wide range of anatomic locations. With her credentials and charismatic care, the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine has been appointed Dr. Sees as Academy Web-Master.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Sees has been the recipient of various awards, including being honored as Emerging Leader of the Year by both AOF and CCOMAA. A grand honor was bestowed upon her in the form of the Nemours Department of Orthopedic Surgery J. Richard Bowen MD Teaching Award, which recognized her unwavering dedication to teaching and unbridled energy and passion for education, exemplified in tireless service and leadership. She was also named Top Osteopath Doc and awarded the Bone & Joint Select Surgeons Award by New Jersey Magazine in 2020.

She lives her mission serving children and young adults with neuromuscular disabilities while giving back to her profession teaching trainees and colleagues nationally and internationally with a sincere heart and Catholic faith.
