The University of Washington Medical Center is a hospital in the University District of Seattle, Washington, United States. It is one of the teaching hospitals affiliated with the University of Washington School of Medicine, and is located in the Warren G. Magnuson Health Sciences Center.
In 2017, Sydney attended Elmira College and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She chose a school for its hockey program and fell in love with the nursing program. After graduation, she took a position at a hospital upstate. From there, she took her NCLEX and completed the licensing process for New York State and started the process of transferring it to CARNA.
With the decision to travel back to Canada, she found a full time position at a rural facility and was blessed that her manager was an advocate for her. Since January 2018, she has been working on the acute floor, which allows her to practice her license at full scope and always continue to grow as a registered nurse in a medical-surgical based setting. She decided to join the MoreOB team to continue learning new protocols and ensure her staff is up to date in practice.

On a more personal note, Sydney attributes her success to her family, who raised her to be hard-working. She believes one needs to work hard in order to perform a job effectively.
When she is not working, she enjoys spending her free time playing hockey, volleyball, and softball, as well as hiking, running, working with horses, farming, and being with her family.
“I love being at home surrounded by my big, crazy family. Working on the farm on my days off is something I am passionate about as it is part of my family’s legacy and who I am. I occasionally continue to play hockey, no longer at a competitive level. But I volunteer and coach girls in the sport when I am able to. I also coach the Highschool Volleyball Team for our town. I am so proud of the girls I am able to mentor” expressed Sydney.
Her favorite movies are Gone with the Wind, Gun Smoke, and Pride and Prejudice. Her favorite type of music is country, being the obvious choice since she grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere.
When asked who she would like to meet, she answered Ellen Degeneres. “I believe she is one of the most amazing people God has put on this planet. Her shows literally always make me cry because she is so, so kind. If everyone followed her lead and did small acts of kindness, the world would be a better place.”
