A board-certified psychiatrist since 1991, Dr. Heinsohn has led Bournewood Health System’s attending physician staff for 14 years. Her administrative and clinical expertise is wide-ranging with many years of experience as medical director at other area hospitals and director of psychiatric emergency services at the former Boston City Hospital (now the Boston Medical Center).
Her role at Bournewood includes oversight of Boston University psychiatric residents and medical students who train at Bournewood Hospital. She is dedicated to reducing and preventing the use of restraint in the treatment milieu, prompting the Department of Mental Health, Bournewood’s licensing authority, to recognize the hospital with exemplary effort. Back in 1986, Dr. Heinsohn graduated with her medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. She then completed her internship at Caritas Carney Hospital and her residency in psychiatry at Boston University Medical Center.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
