Dr. Danner is a board-certified general surgeon and surgical critical care specialist serving as Associate Professor of Surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He can be found on staff at Grady Memorial Hospital (GMH) in Atlanta, Georgia, where he acts as Director of Trauma and Chief Emeritus of Surgery for the MSM Department of Surgery. He is the Program Director of the renowned Reach One Each One Youth Mentoring and Medical Exposure Program for High School Students at Grady.
Dr. Danner’s areas of clinical expertise cover trauma surgery, acute care surgery, advanced minimally invasive surgery, surgical critical care, bariatric surgery, weight management, and laparoscopic hernia repair. Dr. Danner has been featured in the ad series I Wouldn’t Be Here Without Grady alongside his patient, Francine Williams. They recount the night Dr. Danner operated on her after a car accident that left her with 25 broken bones and life-threatening internal injuries.
Dr. Danner received his medical degree in 1995 at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. He then pursued his general surgery residency at the University of Alabama Medical Center (1995 – 2001), followed by a fellowship in surgical critical care at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland (2001 – 2002) and a fellowship in advanced minimally invasive bariatric surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (2003 – 2004). Dr. Danner received his undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 1990.
The doctor attained board certification in general surgery and surgical critical care through the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland.

Dr. Danner is also a member of the Society of University Surgeons and the DeKalb Chapter of 100 Black Men of America.
