A highly respected orthopedic spine surgeon, Dr. Frelinghuysen works with patients at his private practice, with offices in Park Avenue and Staten Island, New York. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University, he earned his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at the New York Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Medical Center, and his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Later, he completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the same educational venue.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery and spine surgery through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Among his other roles, Dr. Frelinghuysen can be found on staff at Mount Sinai Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital. He has authored numerous articles in medical publications, including “The Orthopedics Clinics of North America,” “The Spine Journal,” “Journal of Spinal Disorders and Techniques” and “The Journal of Hand Surgery.”
