Get to know Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Jeannett Martinez, who serves patients in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

A board-certified family nurse practitioner, Jeannett is the Owner and CEO of NM Spirit of Wellness in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She specializes in family practice, medical wellness, aesthetics, and hormone replacement.

NM Spirit of Wellness is a co-op of independent medical wellness practitioners, aestheticians, and massage therapists, whose treatment styles reflect some Ayurveda healing modalities. They are all working together to promote and inspire a path to complete holistic healthcare, personal wellness and personal beauty.

With an ever-present calling for helping people, Jeannett became a vet tech right out of high school. In 1998, she went to Calcutta, India and volunteered with Mother Teresa’s Mission of Charity for 3 months, and watched the doctors and nurses working hard with more detailed work. As a person whose gift was not in academics, she was not ready to commit to officially starting classes. So she started with a Certified Nursing Assistant degree (CNA) and quickly realized she needed to become a nurse practitioner.

After earning her CNA degree from Central New Mexico Community College, she went on to complete her Associate Degree in Nursing at Carrington College. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Grand Canyon University, and her Master of Science in Nursing degree at South University.

On a professional level, Jeannett is a proud member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, the Cellular Medicine Association, the Empire Medical Association, and Evexipel.

She started her career as a home health aide before joining Presbyterian Hospital Downtown Albuquerque, where she worked in the medical surgery unit and emergency department. After learning well reactive medicine, she decided she needed to find how to help people thrive. She left the emergency department and went to work in family practice, rural medicine and urgent care in Moriarty NM for 2 years.

After her private mountain clinic was bought by a corporation in 2020, Jeannett opened a wellness clinic to focus on the person as a whole. She now has more time to spend reviewing labs, current and past stressors, lifestyle and their personal choices, and gets to focus more on keeping people away from pharmaceuticals. In May 2020 to February 2021, she took COVID assignments through the NMDOH Medical Reserve Corp to help Navajo Nation, Gallup and Albuquerque.

A Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) holds board certification and provides continuing and comprehensive healthcare for the individual and family across all ages, genders, diseases, and body systems. FNPs maintain patient records, perform physical exams, order or perform diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, develop treatment plans, as well as treat acute and chronic illnesses, conditions, and injuries that fall under primary care.

In July 2021, Jeannett gave her first virtual speech at the ICON International Conference on forming a patient/provider team, and received a Best Speaker Award. She has also been the recipient of the Who’s Who Nurse Practitioner Award (2021), and America’s Top Nursing Award (2021).

On a more personal note, she attributes her success to always striving to do better in medicine and provide her patients with the specialized care they need. She is grateful to her supportive family and friends. In her free time, she enjoys walking, meditation, and gardening. Her favorite place to vacation is Mexico. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.
