In 1992, Dr. Williams graduated with his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, LA. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1995, before returning to LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport to complete his residency in neurosurgery.
Wanting to further his education, he completed a fellowship in spine surgery at St. Mary’s Spine Center in 2002, followed by a fellowship in spine orthopaedics at Stanford University and a fellowship in spine trauma at The Campbell Clinic in 2003.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS), Dr. Williams attained board certification in orthopaedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. Dr. Williams is also skilled in ExcelsiusGPS® Robotic Navigation for minimally invasive spine surgery.
