Dr. Huger is a trusted pediatrician at Purely Pediatrics, located within St. Louis Children’s Specialty Care Center in Town and Country, Missouri. Patients coming into her office are greeted by fresh flowers, vibrant colors, wonderful music, and smiling faces.
Whether she is performing a well-check or helping a patient, and their parents, to develop a plan for effectively managing a chronic health issue, Dr. Huger brings warmth, understanding and over 20 years of general pediatrics expertise to each one of her families.
Being a mother of twins herself, she has a deep understanding of the demands that raising twins can present. From getting new parents ready to welcome more than one baby, to preparing them for what they can expect in those first few exciting months and beyond, she brings a uniquely personal perspective to her families that have been blessed with multiples.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Huger graduated from Villa Duchesne before moving on to Georgetown University. After graduating from Georgetown, she attended medical school at the University of Missouri School of Medicine before completing her residency in pediatrics at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
Following this, she joined Mercy and established a pediatric practice that she would continue to grow for the next 20 years. Her focus on building caring relationships with her patients and their families, and really taking her time with each visit, resulted in her being honored with the Five Star Excellence Award for scoring in the top 10% nationally for patient satisfaction.
Even more of an honor has been her growing list of second-generation patients. Many of the patients whom she began seeing 20 years ago have become parents themselves, and have asked Dr. Huger to care for their newborns. As a pediatrician, there is really no greater honor than that.
Her move to Washington University Physicians in 2017 was the realization of a longtime dream to create a beautiful, nurturing environment for her patients and their families. Additionally, by locating her new office in the state-of-the-art Children’s Specialty Care Center, she is now able to make referrals to a range of the best pediatric specialists in the country, all located right in the same building. Her patients absolutely love it.
Licensed to practice medicine in Missouri, Dr. Huger is affiliated with St. Luke’s Hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Mercy Hospital St. Louis, SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – St. Louis, and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
Successful in her field, she is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.
On a more personal note, Dr. Huger lives in Webster Groves with her husband, Paul, and their twin boys, Edward and George. Outside of the office, she can be found chasing her two boys (and two puppies), traveling with her family, and spending weekends at the family farm in St. Albans, Missori.
A lover of children’s literature, she maintains a constantly growing collection of children’s books. In fact, one can generally find the latest Newbery Award Winners, or other classic children’s books, on her bedside table. Whatever your child’s interests and reading level, chances are that Dr. Huger will have a wonderful reading recommendation.
