His father, Dr. John Eagan, was a trailblazer as the first African American orthodontist in Michigan and the third in the world. His educational journey started at the prestigious University of Michigan, where he completed his undergraduate training.
Subsequently, Dr. Eagan earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honors from the University of Michigan’s School of Dentistry. Following eight years of practicing general dentistry, he pursued advanced specialty training in orthodontics at Howard University School of Dentistry in Washington, D.C., graduating as valedictorian.
Beyond his professional achievements, he actively engages with his local community and participates in various civic and community organizations. He is a valued member of prominent dental associations such as the American Dental Association, the National Dental Association, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists.
Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. Orthodontists are responsible for identifying problems with the positioning of a patient’s teeth and with their oral development. Together with his wife, Catherine Eagan, he heads Eagan Financial Group, LLC, and they have collectively authored over 10 books.
