Dr. Bilal is a highly trained and qualified radiologist who specializes in all aspects of diagnostic and interventional radiology with particular expertise in oncologic interventions, women’s interventional health, and spine intervention. He is currently the Medical Director of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, New York.

Mather Hospital is an accredited 248-bed, non-profit community teaching hospital dedicated to providing a wide spectrum of health care services of the highest quality to the residents of Suffolk County in a cost-effective manner. Dr. Bilal is also affiliated with Stony Brook University Hospital, where he holds the academic title of Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology. 

In his current capacity, Dr. Bilal also serves as a member of the Cancer Committee, a Clinical Advisory Board Member of the Mather Spine Center, the Program Director of the Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency Program, and a core faculty member and the Sub Specialty Education Coordinator of Interventional Radiology.

With an impressive professional journey filled with numerous achievements, the doctor is board certified in diagnostic radiology, vascular radiology, and interventional radiology by the American Board of Radiology, which is a not-for-profit physician-led organization with headquarters in Tucson, Arizona. It oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Bilal received his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. Following his graduation, he completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at  Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he was the junior and senior Chief Resident. He then went on to complete his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the same educational venue.

Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the American College of Radiology, the American Medical Association, the Suffolk County Medical Society, and the Medical Society of the State of New York. 

Radiology is a medical specialty that uses medical imaging to diagnose and treat diseases within the human body. Radiologists are medical doctors who specialize in diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases using medical imaging procedures, such as exams and tests, X-rays, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, mammography, positron emission tomography, and ultrasound.

In addition to English, Dr. Bilal speaks Urdu and Punjabi. He attributes his success to his excellent training, interpersonal skills, patience, commitment, and excellent support staff. In his spare time, he enjoys local and global traveling, dining, watching movies, painting, and cycling.
