He followed up by completing a residency in general surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in 1982, and residencies in orthopaedic surgery at Howard University and Deaconess Hospital in 1986 and 1987, respectively. Finally, he completed a fellowship at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.
He served as the University physician at Catholic University for 17 years as well as worked with St. John’s College High School and H.D. Woodson High School after establishing Capitol Sports Medicine, which is now merged with Metro Orthopaedics & Sports Therapy.
A member of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians, Dr. Omohundro is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
