Registered Nurse Mona B. Boyle, RN, MScN who Provides Care for the Canada Area
Get to know Registered Nurse Mona B. Boyle, who serves patients in Red Deer.
Mona completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Ottawa where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing magna cum laude in 2009, giving her a decade’s worth of experience. Wanting to further her education, she returned to her alma mater where she received her Master of Science in Nursing in 2012, in which she was a recipient of the Ontario Graduate Scholarship and the Dean’s Scholarship. To stay up to date in her field, she remains a professional member of the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta and the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society.
Mona currently is a Nursing Instructor at Red Deer College. She continues with her professional learning through the school’s Excellence in Teaching and Learning Certificate program. Mona contributes to advancing her profession through research. Her current projects include Teaching for Flexible Expertise and investigating Self-Reporting of Concussions in Sports. She also collaborates as a researcher with the University of Ottawa on the use of pathophysiology virtual laboratories in nurse education. Her previous employment includes clinical nursing at Arnprior Regional Health and Queensway Carleton Hospital, Manager of Quality at the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, and Care Coordinator at Community Care Access Centre. She volunteers her time as a trainer to women’s hockey and rugby teams. Mona has assisted for over a decade as a trainer in many sports in support of her children. In this capacity, she has developed educational programs for parents, coaches, and athletes on the assessment and management of concussions in youth sports at both the recreational and competitive levels. She also volunteered as a member of Parachute Canada Ottawa Chapter.
Registered nurses work in many different capacities. They are committed to life-long learning such as to provide quality and safe care to patients, families, and communities. Registered nurses work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure that their clients receive specialized care within the goals that they establish. Nursing is associated with varying skills but these are highlighted by their caring ways. Communication, compassion, and integrity are paramount to fostering quality care and effective teamwork to address the challenges of today’s nursing environments.
