Dr. Leeds is a board-certified, fellowship-trained general surgeon who remains committed to providing excellent patient care. His philosophy of care is to get patients back to a quality of life that is better than when they first meet him.

Currently, he can be found on staff at ​​​​Baylor Scott & White Center for Advanced Surgery in Dallas, Texas. A native of Long Island, New York, Dr. Leeds moved to Southern California with his parents and older sister early in his life. He grew up playing sports and attended Simi Valley High School. After high school, he attended California Lutheran University and studied biology. He continued his education and research at San Diego State University, completing a Master’s Degree in cell and molecular biology. 

Working on his Master’s Degree affirmed his desire to become a physician and he left promptly to attend Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies. During the medical school curriculum, Dr. Leeds excelled in anatomy and physiology, pushing him toward surgery. 

He completed his clinical rotations as a medical student in Phoenix, Arizona at Maricopa Medical Center. He felt the learning environment, clinical experience, and surgical education was ideal to continue his surgical education and he remained there to train in the general surgery residency program. This program is affiliated with the University of Arizona School of Medicine and the curriculum included rotations through several other prestigious affiliates, including the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Scottsdale Healthcare Hospitals, and the Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. 

After completing his residency, Dr. Leeds went on to complete his fellowship in minimally invasive surgery with one of the field’s greatest contributors, Lee Swanstrom, at Providence Portland Medical Center. During his training, he operated with several world-renowned surgeons in the fields of minimally invasive esophageal surgery, endoscopic surgery, colorectal surgery, and hepatobiliary surgery. 

Thereafter, he became board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Additionally, he is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.
