Rondine is a registered nurse who currently holds the position of Transition Care Program Manager at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care Systems (SLVHCS) in New Orleans, Louisiana. SLVHCS provides quality, compassionate, safe health care to Veteran patients throughout 23 parishes in southeast Louisiana. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the downtown New Orleans VAMC was devastated. SLVHCS reorganized to meet the needs of Veterans and now consists of seven community-based clinics located in Slidell, Hammond, St. John Parish, Houma, Franklin, Bogalusa, and Baton Rouge.
When she first started out in nursing, Rondine thought she would become a pediatric nurse. However, she realized that her decision to become a registered nurse was the right fit for her. Her desire to better serve her patients was the driving force for her continued education throughout her career.
Rondine earned her Associate of Science degree in critical care nursing from Our Lady of the Lake College School of Nursing in 2000. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Loyola University New Orleans in 2003, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the same university in 2011. Rondine also earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Chamberlain University in 2014.
Rondine is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the Louisiana State Nurses Association, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the Baton Rouge District Nurses Association, and the American Nurses Association.
Rondine is an active duty U.S. Army Veteran with 25 years of military service. She has received several honors and awards, including the National Defense Service Medal in 1994, the Army Good Conduct Medal in 1997, the Army Reserves Component Achievement Medal in 2000, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal in 2005 and 2006, the Army Achievement Medal in 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2012, the Army Commendation Medal in 2005, 2006 and 2012, and the Meritorious Service Medal in 2012 – among others.
Rondine was the recipient of the Louisiana Great 100 Nurses in 2016, an honoree of the Celebration of Women in 2017, as well as an honoree of Constable Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2017.
A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to the primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients.
