Caitlin, an advanced registered nurse practitioner and a board-certified family nurse practitioner, specializes in vascular surgery and critical care medicine. She works at the Vascular Institute of Iowa Heart Center, seeing patients at the Laurel / MercyOne Campus in Des Moines, West Des Moines, and Ottumwa.
The Vascular Institute is dedicated to bringing world-class vascular disease care to the Iowa Heart Center. Common vascular surgical procedures performed at the Institute include: carotid endarterectomy, aortic surgery for aneurysmal or occlusive disease, complex revascularization of the lower extremities, arteriography and angioplasty, stent placement, dialysis access, thrombolytic therapy of dialysis grafts for arterial and/or venous occlusion, vertebral artery reconstruction, visceral artery reconstruction, thoracic outlet surgery, endoscopic treatment of venous ulcerations, as well as treatment of hyperhidrosis and reflex sympathetic dystrophy.
In regards to her educational background, Caitlin holds a nursing degree from Mercy College of Health Sciences (2010), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Grand View University (2014), and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Kaplan University (2017).
To stay up to date in her field, she remains a member of the Iowa Nurse Practitioner Society, whose mission is to advance, support, and promote the role of the advanced registered nurse practitioner as providers of quality health care in Iowa.
An Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) is a nurse with postgraduate education in nursing. ARNPs can have primary responsibility for patient care. They practice independently to limited supervision depending on state regulations and also may work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
