An Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) is a nurse with postgraduate education in nursing. ARNPs can have primary responsibility for patient care. They practice independently to limited supervision depending on state regulations and also may work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Additional ARNP roles include certified registered nurse anesthetists and certified nurse midwives.
A Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) is an advanced practice registered nurse who works autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, to deliver family-focused care. Given the rather broad nature of the “family” patient population focus, FNPs offer a wide range of healthcare services that revolve around the family unit; from health promotion and disease prevention to direct care and counseling across the lifespan.
