Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Aaila Chaudhry, who serves patients throughout the Pennsylvania.
Dr. Chaudhry is a board-certified ophthalmologist currently serving her patients at IC Laser Eye Care. At the practice’s three locations in Bensalem and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Hamilton, New Jersey, her mission is to provide the highest-quality eye care to patients living in and around southeastern Pennsylvania. Dr. Chaudhry is also assistant professor of Pediatric Ophthalmology with the Nazareth Hospital Ophthalmology residency program. She teaches residents and takes active role in their research projects.
She treats various ocular conditions, including dry eyes, diabetic eye disease, floaters, glaucoma, headaches, macular degeneration, cataracts, retinal detachment, and much more. She also specializes in pediatric and strabismus and has performed many eyelid surgeries and a variety of other cosmetic procedures.
A native of Pakistan, Dr. Chaudhry graduated with her medical degree from the Allama Iqbal Medical College in 2002. Upon relocating to the United States, she completed her residency in ophthalmology at the Temple University and Lewis Katz School of Medicine’s Department of Ophthalmology. She was the first person to complete the pediatric fellowship at the Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital in association with Wills Eye Hospital and Jefferson Medical School in Wilmington, Delaware.
As a testament of her continued education, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
Dr. Chaudhry is also assistant professor of Pediatric Ophthalmology with the Nazareth Hospital Ophthalmology residency program. She teaches residents and takes active role in their research projects.
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. Ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and may perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.
Outside of the office, Dr. Chaudhry enjoys crocheting and spending her free time with her husband and four young children. Speaking multiple languages, she is fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, Spanish, and Punjabi.
