Dr. Fridman is a general & bariatric surgeon who created weight loss history as the first surgeon in Connecticut to perform the Orbera® Gastric Balloon non-surgical weight loss procedure. He is currently affiliated with Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists, P.C. in Norwalk, Connecticut. Dr. Fridman is the Bariatric Director at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut. He also holds privileges at Norwalk Hospital and St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Dr. Fridman earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. He then went on to complete his internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, followed by his residency at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he was awarded the Sampath Kumar Award. He also completed his fellowship in minimally invasive & bariatric surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida in 2012.
During his fellowship, Dr. Fridman worked within the bariatric program and participated in the care and surgical treatment of over a hundred cases, including laparoscopic banding, gastric sleeve, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedures, as well as revisional bariatric surgery. He followed patients from seminar to postoperative care.
Dr. Fridman had the privilege of studying under Dr. Raul Rosenthal, a renowned bariatric and general surgeon, who is the Editor of the Bariatric Times – a nationally published medical journal. Dr. Fridman contributed to the studies and submitted articles for publication in the Bariatric Times. He was also selected to give an abstract presentation at the annual American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons in San Diego, California.
Dr. Fridman is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. Furthermore, he is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

In addition to the laparoscopic bariatric surgical procedures, Dr. Fridman is trained to perform laparoscopic fundoplications for the treatment of severe gastroesophageal reflux disease, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, appendectomies, as well as hiatal hernia repairs for general surgical patients.
