Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Adeteju Ogunrinde, who serves patients in Waldorf, Maryland.

Dr. Ogunrinde, also known as Dr. O, is a practicing pediatrician at Children’s Healthcare Center in Waldorf, Maryland. She has been in private practice since 1997 and especially enjoys the privilege of watching her children grow into young beautiful adults. 

Advocates in childrens’ health, Dr. Ogunrinde and her staff abide by one philosophy, to give the best care to all patients in a clean and safe environment, and most importantly, to be good listeners to parents. They strive to make the visit less traumatic for the children and empathize with the parents as they deal with their precious ones. 

Regarding her educational background, Dr. Ogunrinde graduated with her medical degree from the premier University College Hospital in Nigeria in 1987. She then moved to Trinidad and Tobago where she did her internship in pediatrics, surgery, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology. She furthered her training in obstetrics and gynecology until 1991, and then followed her passion and did her postgraduate training in pediatrics at Howard University Hospital. 

Subsequent to her education, she attained board certification in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Serving on the Board of Directors for Healthy Kids in Charles County, Dr. Ogunrinde is an active member of the African Women Cancer Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). 

With diverse experience in healthcare and business management, she has enjoyed working in teams with diverse cultural backgrounds and has been recognized by peers for leadership roles. Her past travels to medical missions have opened new interest in finding ways to improve healthcare delivery and innovations in the emerging markets, especially in Nigeria.

Licensed to practice medicine in Maryland and Washington, D.C., Dr. Ogunrinde is affiliated with MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center and the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

Happily married, she lives in the Southern Maryland area with her husband and her beautiful daughter. She enjoys cooking, jewelry making, and staying active with swimming and playing tennis.
