After completing his residency in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, he was awarded a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center through the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Subsequent to his education, he attained board certification in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Prior to medical school, Dr. Shah worked with Dr. Sohail Husain studied at the Yale University School of Medicine for four years, yielding high impact publications in various peer-reviewed journals including The American Journal of Physiology, Gastroenterology and The Journal of Biological Chemistry. He was also a recipient of a prestigious American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) research fellowship award.

Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
