Dr. Mandelberg completed his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1968. Furthering his education he received his Medical Degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine, in 1972, giving him over four decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his degree he completed his internship with the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine. He then completed his Ophthalmology residency with the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He then went into the Navy where he ran the Ophthalmology Department of the Naval Regional Medical Center in Millington Tennessee for two years. After leaving the navy he completed his Cornea and External Diseases Fellowship headed by Dr. James Aquavella in Rochester N.Y.

Dr. Mandelberg is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology  at the LA County USC Medical Center where he helps train residents in Ophthalmic Surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a professional member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, California Medical Association, Los Angeles County Medical Association, as well as, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Mandelberg currently practices with A Center for Vision Care in Burbank, California where he holds an expertise in Laser Cataract Surgery, Laser Vision Correction (LASIK), Laser Glaucoma Surgery,  Corneal Transplantation Surgery, Glaucoma, and specializes in Bifocal & Accommodating Intraocular Lenses for patients who want to maximize their chances to not need glasses after Cataract Surgery. Besides Surgery Dr. Mandelberg specializes in Contact Lenses particularly for patients with Corneal disease such as Keratoconus and dry eyes.He has many published articles and has lectured in these areas.
