Specializing in both nuclear and interventional cardiology, Dr. Micklin became a valued member of Cardiology Physicians, P.A. in July of 2006. 

His clinical expertise encompasses nuclear stress testing, echocardiography, and vascular ultrasound. As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Micklin conducts diagnostic cardiac catheterization, utilizing intravascular ultrasound, as well as performs stent placement and angioplasty. He has a strong commitment to inpatient and outpatient clinical patient care.

Initiating his academic journey as an undergraduate biology major at the University of Delaware, Dr. Micklin graduated in 1986. Subsequently, he attended the Hahnemann University School of Medicine from 1986 to 1990. Following graduation in 1990, he began his residency in internal medicine at Hahnemann University. Dr. Micklin then pursued a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Hahnemann in 1993, where he served as the chief cardiology fellow from 1994 to 1995.

Before joining Cardiology Physicians, P.A., Dr. Micklin practiced in Charlotte, North Carolina since 1996. His academic achievements include membership in Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Delaware and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Societies at Hahnemann University. He also received a commendation for Superior Performance during his residency at Hahnemann.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Dr. Micklin holds board certifications in internal medicine, interventional cardiology, and cardiovascular disease conferred by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Showcasing his commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements in his field, Dr. Micklin has been certified to perform nuclear cardiology procedures since 1996 and is certified to interpret vascular ultrasound studies.

Interventional cardiology is the subspecialty of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of heart diseases. The field includes the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, vascular disease, and acquired structural heart disease. An interventional cardiologist is a cardiologist with one to two years of additional education and training in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease, as well as congenital and structural heart conditions through catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting.

In his personal life, Dr. Micklin is married with three children. Both he and his wife attended the University of Delaware and were members of the Class of 1986. 

Driven by a passion for exploration, Dr. Micklin finds joy in traveling to destinations featuring both beaches and mountains. Skiing and playing golf are among his favorite hobbies, offering a balance to his professional life in cardiology. His preferred source of professional insight is the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
