Academically, Dr. Al-Ameri graduated with his medical degree from Baghdad College of Medicine in 1985. He then went on to perform a clinical residency at Al-Najaf Teaching Hospital, Najaf (1985 – 1987), followed by a clinical residency within the Department of Internal Medicine at Baghdad Medical City Hospital (1987 – 1992).
He served as a Clinical Visiting Professor within the Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (2007 – 2008), and then as a Clinical Research Scientist within the Department of Leukemia at the said establishment (2008 – 2009). From there, Dr. Al-Ameri went on to complete a clinical fellowship in leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (2009 – 2011), and a clinical residency in internal medicine at Akron General Medical Center (2011 – 2014).
A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), he is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
