Dr. Samuels is a highly trained rheumatologist with more than 30 years of experience treating autoimmune and inflammatory diseases that affect the joints, muscles, bones, tendons and ligaments and metabolic bone disease. He is in practice at Penn Highlands Rheumatology in DuBois, Pennsylvania.

Graduating with his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Dr. Samuels completed his residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh and a fellowship in rheumatology at Temple University.

Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR), he is board-certified in rheumatology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Holding membership status, Dr. Samuels is a member of the American College of Physicians/American Society of Internal Medicine, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

Throughout his career, he has been an attending physician at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, Pocono Medical Center, Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network, St. Luke’s University Hospital, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Abington Memorial Hospital, Shadyside Hospital, and St. Margaret Memorial Hospital.

Among his prior academic appointments, Dr. Samuels has served as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Temple University Hospital, full-time faculty member at Albert Einstein Medical Center and Clinical Instructor at Montefiore Hospital-UPMC.

Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists.
