A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Young is a seasoned eye care professional & the Owner of Stone Oak Ophthalmology Center in San Antonio, Texas. She provides comprehensive eye care for the entire family, including routine eye exams for glasses or contacts, diabetic eye exams, management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eyes, and many other eye conditions. 

Specializing in small-incision, no-stitch cataract surgery, she offers the latest in premium intraocular lens technology, as well as refractive surgery, utilizing all-laser custom LASIK. Certified by the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, Dr. Young is also happy to offer several minimally-invasive facial aesthetic procedures, including Botox, Juvederm, and chemical peels.

A state-of-the-art surgical eye care practice, Stone Oak Ophthalmology Center offers a wide variety of surgical and nonsurgical treatments for the management of mild to severe ocular conditions and diseases. Led by Dr. Young, she is in partnership with Dr. Jana Waters, applying their vast experience, advanced training, and compassionate approach to every procedure.

They have years of specialty training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of common eye conditions and advanced ocular diseases. Together, they provide outstanding care to local families and diligently examine all of treatment options to provide the best avenue for improving vision and overall eye health. 

After graduating with honors from Columbia University in New York City with a degree in biology, Dr. Young returned to her home state of Texas to attend UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where she earned membership in the AOA national medical honor society. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, followed by residency training in ophthalmology at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, the nation’s first ophthalmology training program. In her final year at Wills Eye, she was chosen to serve as co-chief resident. 

A Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, she is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

In Texas, Dr. Young holds privileges at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital, the Baptist Hospital System in San Antonio, the Methodist Ambulatory Surgical Center North Central, and Alamo Laser Vision Center. 

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. Ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and may perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.

When she is not practicing medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Matthew, and chasing around their three little boys, Caleb, Ethan, and Luke.
