Get to know Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Allison Sikorsky, who serves patients in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

Allison is a doctorly prepared board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in healthcare. She is the Founder of At Your Service Psychiatry, PLLC in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

At Your Service Psychiatry, PLLC provides the highest quality psychiatric care for people with mental health problems using advanced, secure video conferencing technology across multiple states. The mission of the practice is to provide competent, patient-centered telepsychiatry treatment for various conditions such as bipolar and mood disorders, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, transitions, stress, insomnia, grief, and more.

Licensed in 20 states to provide telepsychiatry services, Allison follows her patients’ progress from their hospital treatment to their life as an outpatient. She describes herself as being a highly sensitive person who strives to care for her patients in a personal and meaningful way, rather than just prescribing medications. She has a sincere commitment to patient privacy and satisfaction, as well. If, after the first visit, a patient feels they will not benefit from her services, she provides a full refund of their fees.

“With a psychiatry shortage, many are worried they will have to see their colleague or someone sitting on their licensing boards. Telepsychiatry is an excellent option for these people, and people with similar concerns, to get treatment. I offer visits on the weekends, or after hours, that you may make from a computer, tablet, or phone. “Service” to me, means easy technology, no mental health apps, and also the care and service of people with psychiatric mental health needs” expressed Allison.

Enjoying working with adults of all ages and genders, she has a particular interest in women’s mental health needs (including postpartum adjustment to new motherhood) and women’s sexual medicine (including lower sexual desire disorder). She also has a passion for providing mental health services to other healthcare professionals and caregivers.

Receiving her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from College of DuPage in 1999, Allison began working as a team leader and hospice nurse that same year. She then went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science from National Louis University in 2004, after which she graduated with her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Rush University in 2011.

During the last nine years, she has been a psychiatric nurse practitioner, caring for patients with a wide variety of mental health conditions. Her experience includes treating patients in community mental health settings and inpatient acute psychiatric units, as well as providing psychiatric consultation-liaison services to various hospitals. She began her telepsychiatry practice in 2018.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Allison is a member of the Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

In the United States, a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) is an advanced practice registered nurse who holds board certification and is trained to provide a wide range of mental health services to patients and families in a variety of settings. PMHNPs diagnose, conduct therapy, and prescribe medications for patients who have psychiatric disorders, medical organic brain disorders or substance abuse problems. They are licensed to provide emergency psychiatric services, psychosocial and physical assessment of their patients, treatment plans, and manage patient care. They may also serve as consultants or as educators for families and staff.

Among Allison’s philanthropic endeavors include Shirley Ability Lab of Illinois, the American Lung Association, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

On a more personal note, she is married with three teenage boys and two dogs. For fun, one can find her watching wrestling matches and band concerts, roller skating, and walking her little dogs with the family.
