Dr. Tokayer is a board-certified rheumatologist in practice with Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates of Palm Beach in Boynton Beach, Florida, which he joined in 2001. He has also been on staff at JFK Medical Center in Lake Worth, Florida, since 2001. Dr. Tokayer prides himself on being a good listener and believes that compassion, and at times a sense of humor, can be valuable components of excellent patient care.

Academically, Dr. Tokayer is an Instructor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, as well as an affiliate assistant professor of the Charles G. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. Moreover, he offers his time as a preceptor to medical students.

After earning his medical degree  from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine in 1995, Dr. Tokayer completed his internal medicine training at Winthrop University Hospital in 1999. He advanced his training with a rheumatology fellowship conducted at Winthrop University Hospital and Nassau University Medical Center in 2001. 

Subsequent to his education, Dr. Tokayer received board certification in internal medicine and rheumatology from the American Board of Internal Medicine. The American Board of Internal Medicine is a 501 nonprofit, self-appointed physician-evaluation organization that certifies physicians practicing internal medicine and its subspecialties.

Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists deal mainly with immune-mediated disorders of the musculoskeletal system, soft tissues, autoimmune diseases, vasculitides, and inherited connective tissue disorders. Many of these diseases are now known to be disorders of the immune system. Rheumatology is considered to be the study and practice of medical immunology.

A Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, Dr. Tokayer remains an active member of the American College of Rheumatology, the Florida Society of Rheumatology, and the Florida Medical Association. Outside his professional commitments, he is a volunteer with the local Arthritis Foundation’s clinic for medically indigent arthritis patients. Dr. Tokayer also volunteers to lecture to the greater community on arthritis and related conditions. Married with five children, he enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.
