A highly respected pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Finch diagnoses and treats patients at her private practice in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where she has been practicing since 1996. Furthermore, she is the Director of the Department of Echocardiography at the Cardiovascular Institute at San Lucas Hospital (Hospital Episcopal San Lucas).
A native to the area, Dr. Finch has been serving the parents of Puerto Rico in search of help for their children with supraventricular tachycardia, congenital heart defects, and other heart conditions for several years. Her mission is to evaluate and treat the many adolescents and teenagers with congenital heart problems or arrhythmia. She is also highly skilled at diagnosing and treating infants born with a heart defect.
With over 35 years of achievements in her field, Dr. Finch states that she got her inspiration to become a physician from her father, who was a physician, and her mother, who was a nurse. She expressed an interest early on to be involved in the healing of children and help people through some of their hardest times.
Her successful medical career began with a medical degree from San Juan Bautista School of Medicine, a private medical school in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She then went on to complete a pediatric internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Ponce. She continued with a pediatric residency at Ponce District Hospital in 1988. She completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York and completed her residency in echocardiography at the University of Alabama. Additionally, she is a member of the Medication Safety Officers Society.
Pediatric cardiologists are pediatricians who specialize in cardiology. They treat diseases and abnormalities of the heart and circulatory system in children. They practice in a variety of medical settings, including children’s hospitals, university medical centers, large community hospitals, as well as private offices throughout the country.
