In regards to his educational background, Dr. Kao graduated with his Pritzker School of Medicine of the University of Chicago in 1988. He then went on to perform his residency at University of Minnesota Medical Center in 1989, and his fellowships in cardiovascular disease at Duke University Medical Center & Oregon Health and Science University.
Continuously advancing his efforts, he is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and advanced heart failure & transplant cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Named a Super Doctor, Dr. Kao is affiliated with the 10 hospitals of the Saint Luke’s Heatlth System Kansas City and practices primarily at its Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City and also provides consultaiton at Mercy Hospital Joplin, in Joplin, Missouri.
Holding an academic title, he serves as a Professor of Medicine at the University of Missouri- Kansas City School of Medicine.
