Upon completion of his training in 1998, the doctor attained board certification in gastroenterology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in 1999. Later on, in 2018 and 2019, he attained board certification in gastroenterology and internal medicine through the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons (NBPAS). Dr. Schmidt then recertified in gastroenterology in November 2020 through ABIM.
