An excellent neurosurgeon, Dr. Chenelle is affiliated with Northwestern Medicine Regional Medical Group, on medical staff at Central DuPage Hospital, Delnor Hospital, Kishwaukee Hospital, and Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. He specializes in neurological surgery, with a subspecialty in Neuro-oncology,  skull base neurosurgery and minimally invasive spine surgery.

Alongside his clinical position, Dr. Chenelle holds a faculty position with the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he is a Health System Clinician of Neurological Surgery. 

Regarding his educational background, Dr. Chenelle holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. He started his career in medicine by earning his medical degree with honors from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1991. He then went on to complete his internship in general surgery (1992) and his residency in neurological surgery (1997) at the University of Virginia Medical Center, where he was named Chief Medical Resident.

Licensed to practice medicine in Illinois, the doctor is board-certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

Neurosurgery is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurosurgeons are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat surgically disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

As a testament of his excellence in the field, Dr. Chenelle has been the recipient of various awards and honors, including Patients’ Choice Award (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2018), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018), Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award (2012), and On-Time Doctor Award (2014, 2015, 2016, 2018).
