Get to know Endocrine Surgeon Dr. Anna Kundel, who serves patients in New Jersey.

Dr. Kundel, a board-certified endocrine surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, specializes in surgical intervention for endocrine-related benign and malignant diseases, particularly those affecting the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. She serves as the Medical Director of Endocrine Surgery at Valley Medical Group in Ridgewood and Wayne, New Jersey.

Dr. Kundel joined Valley from New York University Langone Medical Center, where she served as Director of Endocrine Surgery at NYU Brooklyn and Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery. “I put a priority on taking a team-based approach in developing a personalized plan of care for each of my patients.” as stated by the doctor. 

With expertise in general surgery, endocrine, and metabolic surgery, some of the specific conditions that she treats include thyroid disease, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, hyperthyroidism, thyroid goiters, enlarged thyroid, thyroid biopsies, parathyroid disease, primary hyperparathyroidism, hypercalcemia, secondary hyperparathyroidism, tertiary hyperparathyroidism, parathyroid cancer, adrenal disease, adrenal nodules, adrenal cancer, lymph node enlargement, lymph node biopsies, soft tissue tumors, lipomas, and sebaceous cysts.

A 2006 graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Kundel completed her residency in surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens in 2008, followed by her fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical Center-Presbyterian Hospital in 2009. Thereafter, she completed her residency in general surgery at New York University Medical Center in 2012, followed by her fellowship in endocrine & metabolic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in 2013. 

That same year, she became board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

In addition to English, Dr. Kundel speaks Spanish and Russian.
