The AOBNP is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) and physicians who specialize in disorders of the nervous system (neurologists) and to qualified DOs and physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders (psychiatrists).

In Texas, Dr. Alvarado-Ortiz is affiliated with Baptist Medical Center, North Central Baptist Hospital, Mission Trail Baptist Hospital, and Resolute Baptist Hospital.

On a professional level, he is an active member of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, the Neurocritical Care Society, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Heart Association, and the American Stroke Association. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology.
