A Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology (FAOCO) and a member of the American Osteopathic Association, he is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
A native of Tulsa, Dr. Economou attended Tulsa University, completing his degree in Science. He then went on to earn his Optometry Degree (OD) from Northeastern State University College of Optometry. In practice only a year, he returned to medical school, graduating with his medical degree from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon graduation, he went on to complete his residency in Killeen, Texas, followed by his fellowship in ophthalmology and glaucoma Fellowship at Albany Medical Center in New York.
