He earned his medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 2008, after which he went on to complete his residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, followed by his fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

In 2015, he was awarded the Rookie of the Year Award in the Department of Medicine at Stamford Health for quality patient care during his first year of service.

Among the doctor’s many achievements, he is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. He is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia, and lymphoma.

With an aim to help shape the future of oncology through clinical research, Dr. Gulati serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Columbia University. He uses the latest treatments, including immunotherapy and clinical trials, to help his patients fight cancer.
